Women & Leadership Australia (WLA) is administering a national initiative to support the development of female leaders across Australia’s engineering sector. The initiative is providing women working in the sector with grants to enable participation in a range of leadership development programs.
The leadership development programs are part-time and delivered nationally via WLA’s blended learning model. Scholarship funding is strictly limited and will be awarded based on a set of selection criteria being met.
IES: The Lighting Society invites members to apply for the Gwenyth Ewens Memorial Bursary. Gwenyth, a strong advocate of the IES and education and research, bequeathed a sum of money to the IES from which the earnings support the bursary (see attached for more information on Gwenyth Ewens). The bursary is to provide a contribution towards the expenses of a member participating in an educational or research based professional development activity in lighting.
Recently our CEO Kirsty Kelly was a guest of the Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) at their Brisbane networking lunch with Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities, The Hon Paul Fletcher MP.
In speaking to the gathered crowd of some 50 CEO’s across the association sector and industry, the Minister highlighted the Government’s commitment to major infrastructure and continued population growth. Touching briefly on the quality of the built environment, he acknowledged to importance of creating great urban areas and the necessary supporting public infrastructure and community facilities to accommodate a growing population.
It is pleasing to see IES on the advocacy and political radar, with an invitation to this gathering, which included several former State and Federal Ministers, and the former state Premier.
