DAVID LEWIS will be hosting a talk on Stadium Lighting
David is a lighting consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in Six countries. He is currently the broadcast lighting consultant to Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
David became a Member of the IESANZ in 1985 and is a Past President of the NSW Chapter. He is an Affiliate of the IALD and has served on various Standards Australia committees.
David is a member of CIE TC 5.26 rewriting CIE 83 “Guide for the Lighting of Sports Events for Colour Television and Film Systems”
From a mixed background of theatre and electrical design for industry in southern Africa, he started his lighting consulting career in London designing large architectural projects (e.g. Terminal 3 Heathrow Airport, Barbican Arts Centre, and Devonport Dockyard).
Later, he was senior designer at Lee Lighting UK designing television/film studio lighting luminaires. He joined Philips Lighting in London as senior designer, completing several training courses in Philips HQ, The Netherlands.
In 1984 David and family migrated to Australia where he became the senior lighting designer, later chief lighting engineer for Philips Lighting.
David formed his own independent lighting consultancy, David Lewis Lighting Design (DLLD), in late 1996. He specialises in international sports television broadcast lighting; and occasionally architectural and entertainment.
For more than a decade David was the lighting consultant to the host broadcaster of the Olympic Games (www.obs.es) – Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Torino 2006, Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010.
