New two year lighting course formally accredited on National Register: Enlightenment to be re-named

The IESANZ is delighted to announce that it has developed a two year lighting course curriculum which will allow graduates to fulfill the educational requirements leading to full membership (MIES) of the Society.

This curriculum has been formally accepted and listed as the National register of training courses as IESANZ COURSE IN LIGHTING DESIGN AND APPLICATION.

The IESANZ owns the copyright to the course and also the responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of the course curriculum. This is no small task, however the benefits to the lighting community are immense, particularly in those regions without existing lighting education.

Curriculum development has taken place in parallel with the running of the course in Adelaide in 2014, and means that the Society is well placed to deliver Year 2 in Adelaide and Year 1 in Perth in 2015. In addition to technical subjects, the curriculum also includes modules on communication and professional practice.

Concurrent with this development, Enlightenment will be re-badged as IESANZ INTRODUCTION TO LIGHTING.

Plans for a possible third year, covering specialist topics in greater detail and subjects such as contract law and built form topics, are in the pipeline.
