Our industry leading endorsed lighting courses are popular with new and seasoned professionals across the building and construction sectors, including engineers, builders, designers, architects, lighting professionals, and those involved in the development and regulation of lighting policy.
Quite simply, we are passionate about Lighting and everything that it brings to life, business, sport, play and the world. IES: The Lighting Society was created with a mission to promote the art and science of lighting and to disseminate information about lighting to interested parties. Our short lighting courses and highly credentialed facilitators have much to share with anyone wanting to learn more.
Our three endorsed short courses, Fundamentals of Light, Sustainable Lighting Application, and Lighting Design Live Workshop are held live online.
Our short courses aim to provide new entrants to the lighting community with a basic knowledge of terminology, natural and electric light sources, and an appreciation of calculation methods and layout design.
Fundamentals of Light (2 x consecutive half-days) - delivered "live" online by International College of Lighting (ICOL via the Zoom platform).
IES: The Lighting Society currently runs both a scholarship and bursary to promote the art and science in lighting.
The Bursary is in memory of Gwenyth Ewens
IES: The Lighting Society invites members to apply for the Gwenyth Ewens Memorial Bursary. Gwenyth, a strong advocate of the IESANZ and education and research, bequeathed a sum of money to the IESANZ from which the earnings support the bursary (see attached for more information on Gwenyth Ewens). The bursary is to provide a contribution towards the expenses of a member participating in an educational or research based professional development activity in lighting.
