Technical Meetings
IES QLD Committee has been working hard to organise events for the next couple of months. In last month’s issue of Arcus, I mentioned that I was talking to QPAC about organising a back stage tour of the lighting facilities they have there. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a suitable schedule yet and as such this event has been pushed back for the time being.
Also, In the last Arcus newsletter I mentioned the idea of holding a series of debates on issues that trending in the lighting industry. I would like to reiterate that if you are interested in participating in these debates than please send an email to qldevents@iesanz.org
We have several topics underway that will hopefully be of interest to all members and non-members alike.
Upcoming events include the following:
- Presentation from Michael Rosetta on Smart Street Lighting Project in Canberra.
- Workshop on Lighting for Theatre
- Presentation on the new edition of the AS4282 Standard for Obtrusive Lighting
- Workshop Architectural Lighting for Building Facades and Objects

Awards
Awards Dinner 2022
In my role as President of the QLD CMC 4 the IES I had the pleasure and honour, in collaboration with the committee of presenting the 2022 Lighting Design and Innovation Awards at the Princess Theatre on the 11th of November. Special thanks to our Judges and Conveners who spent a lot of their own time visiting entries and also to those who entered their work in for appraisal. All of the entries this year were outstanding.
I would like to thank Zumtobel Group, Schreder, Advanced Lighting, GM Poles, Raylinc and Signify for sponsoring the event. Rockit Productions Corporate Entertainment provided fantastic entertainment with their modern take on the 1920’s throughout the night and warm thanks goes out to them. Thank you also to Nicole Dyer our compare from ABC radio Gold Coast for the night who provided laughs but also provided insights into our great industry. The Queensland CMC worked very hard throughout the year especially the subcommittee members Lee Wagner Anne Richard Ralph who spent a lot of their personal time and effort.
Also I would like to thank the Princess theatre and their staff for providing fantastic service, food and security on the night.
