Technician
An Associate member who has successfully completed a lighting course accredited by the Society, may apply for upgrade to Technician.

How to apply for Technician (TechIES) Upgrade

Log into your account.

Click on the "Members Hub" tab at the top of the screen.

Scroll down, and click on the "My Membership" heading.

You'll see 3 boxes, choose the middle box "Upgrade My Membership" and click on the "Upgrade my membership" wording.

Select the Technician to upgrade to.

Follow the steps as instructed, ensuring you upload the required Accredited Lighting Qualification with you submission.

Once your submission is received, an invoice will be sent via accounts, and when payment is confirmed, your upgrade application will be forwarded to your CMC representative.

After the CMC have approved your upgrade, you'll receive a certificate via a congratulations email.

You will also receive a hard copy of the email in the mail.
Member
An Associate or Technician who has successfully completed a lighting course accredited by the Society and who has a minimum of 4 (four) years of approved lighting practice or equivalent practice in an allied field may apply for upgrade to Member.
Post-nominals allowed: MIES
Ensure you supply all the below requirements for your upgrade to ensure your upgrade can begin promptly!

REFEREE REPORT
Members of the IES wishing to upgrade their membership to the higher grade of Member are also required to support their application with a report from 3 referees nominated by them and who are prepared to act in this role.

Fellow
A person who has equivalent qualifications to those of a Member and who has at least 8 (eight) years of approved lighting practice or equivalent practice in an allied field may apply for upgrade to Fellow.
