"Parliament of Victoria - Spring Street Facade"
FPOV
Award of Excellence
The designers have skilfully navigated the challenges of illuminating heritage façades through out the extensive 8-year project, to reinvigorate the night-time presence of one of Victorias most iconic buildings.
A vast knowledge and respect for heritage builds have been demonstrated by using a variety of lighting techniques and seamlessly integrating new luminaires through sympathetic placement and non-invasive installation techniques.
The refurbishment and repurposing of the period lanterns preserves the historic fabric of the installation, whilst the new and discrete façade lighting provides the contemporary opportunity for colour to celebrate events at the state and national level.
The result being a lighting project which celebrates the architecture and unique form of parliament house, ensuring the building remains a prominent part of Melbourne’s nighttime vista.

"Yiaga Restaurant"
Electrolight
Award of Excellence
Yiaga is revealed through a quiet choreography of light and shadow, with each source serving a precise spatial and atmospheric purpose.
Internally, illumination is carefully directed to reveal the tactile and textural qualities of the material palette rather than uniformly washing surfaces. This selective approach creates depth through contrast while maintaining a calm, understated ambience.
Custom pendant lights introduce a crafted quality and distinctive focal points, while gathering and performance areas are subtly highlighted to support changing patterns of occupation without disrupting the restaurant’s relaxed character.
Externally, restrained low-level illumination draws the garden into the restaurant, softening the boundary between interior and landscape and allowing the dining experience to extend beyond the building envelope.

"120 Collins Street Foyer Update"
NDY Light
Award of Excellence
A shifting interplay of natural and artificial light transforms the foyer beyond circulation, creating a flexible setting for exhibition, performance, gathering and everyday life.
Linear lighting traces the existing roof structure, emphasising the rhythm and scale of the overhead beams while complementing daylight filtering through the glazed canopy. Light cast across the irregular, faceted reflective cladding creates shifting, water-like reflections, giving the ceiling a sense of movement and depth as conditions and viewpoints change.
Two large scaled, feature pendants flank the retained heritage façade, providing luminous visual anchors within the expansive volume and strengthening the dialogue between old and new.
Together, daylight, architectural illumination and decorative light create a dynamic yet cohesive environment that transitions seamlessly between everyday and event-based use.

Bringing new lighting possibilities to the exterior organic form, Coolon’s eLi luminaire has been brought to life to answer the call of designers working with curved architecture and landscapes where performance is needed to realise the effect.
From concept to fruition, the development team have asked the questions of the market and listened to the responses, the locally produced eLi luminaire is a robust and practical solution that unlocks possibilities to future exterior lighting projects.
"Juni Restaurant"
Electrolight
Award of Commendation
Juni’s identity emerges through a vibrant, orchestrated interplay of coloured and white light, drawing the energy of the street into an immersive dining experience.
The storefront is animated by graduated coloured light, offering glimpses of the atmosphere within while establishing a recognisable night-time character. Internally, red lights interact with raked details to create a distinctive cross-hatched luminous effect, transforming a pragmatic material into a defining visual feature.
At high level, concealed and directional lighting accentuates the existing structural beams, revealing the character of the original building fabric and adding depth overhead. Projected imagery animates the textured wall surfaces, introducing a shifting visual layer that changes the character of the space over time. Suspended directional lights create focused pools of low-level illumination across the tables, balancing atmosphere with functionality.
Together, these layers form a rich yet controlled composition in which light, projection, material and structure collectively shape the restaurant’s identity and atmosphere.

"Bogong Car Park"
Glowing Structures
Award of Commendation
By night, coloured gradient waves of light transform the perforated façade of Bogong Street Car Park as a distinctive urban landmark, giving its utilitarian form a vivid new identity.
Inspired by the native Bogong moth, the building’s presence after dark and considered use of shielded interior lighting suppresses glare and light spill, allowing the eye to follow the shifting spectrum across the streetscape.
At ground level, coloured light cascades down the building envelope and into the adjoining laneway, transforming an otherwise overlooked transitional space into a vibrant and dynamic light installation.
Together, the façade and laneway lighting create a cohesive nocturnal expression, using light as an integral architectural element to strengthen sense of place, orientation and the public experience.

"Skidmore, Owings & Merril (SOM) Melbourne Studio"
Light It Design
Award of Commendation
Moving beyond the conventions of workplace illumination, layered light introduces the warmth and atmosphere more commonly associated with hospitality interiors.
A restrained palette of linear and directional fittings are carefully integrated with the ceiling and interior material palette, while selected feature pendants provide visual anchors and define distinct areas within the workplace. Varying levels of ambient, accent and task lighting create hierarchy, depth and visual comfort throughout the space.
At the entry, a large architectural relief model forms a key focal point, precisely illuminated to cast pronounced patterns of light and shadow, evoking changing sunlight across an urban landscape while revealing its intricate three-dimensional form.
The resulting composition balances functionality with atmosphere, using integrated illumination to reinforce materiality, spatial organisation and the studio’s architectural character.

"Izett Street Park, Prahran"
2B Designed
Award of Commendation
Soft layers of light draw the pocket park away from the brightness of its busy surroundings, creating a quieter and more intimate night-time retreat.
Tall poles position the primary light sources above normal eye height, reducing perceived glare while maintaining effective coverage across the space. The expansive mural is carefully illuminated to reveal its fauna and graphic detail without flattening the artwork.
Integrated lighting behind seating and rest areas softly highlights the surrounding planting and provides comfortable ambient illumination, reinforcing the park’s calm and intimate character.
The arrangement also allows flexibility for a future through-site connection, supporting the evolving role of the park. The result is an adaptable landscape defined through subtle contrasts of light and shadow.
